The University of Arkansas was founded in 1871 on the site of a hilltop farm that overlooked the Ozark Mountains, giving it the nickname "The Hill. It's present name was adopted in 1899 and classes were first held on January 22, 1872. Sitting at the edge of the original main lawn is Spoofer's Stone, a place for couples to meet and pass notes. Students play soccer, cricket and touch football on the lawn's open green. The university’s 26,754 students come from every county in Arkansas and some 100 nations! Go Crimson & White wedges.
